Co-E1 Enada NADH: Cinco De Mayo Health Tip!

Cinco de Mayo, for those who may not know means the fifth of May, also known as the Anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, national holiday in Mexico in honor of a military victory in 1862 over the French forces of Napoleon III. Cinco de Mayo today has become a day to throw a party and have a little too much to eat and drink, but did you know these facts about today:
- The holiday celebrates an unexpected victory. The holiday actually celebrates the Mexican victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. The Mexican army won the battle despite being smaller and ill-equipped.
- Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independence Day. That occurred 50 years prior to the Battle of Puebla. It is celebrated on September 16.
- Cinco de Mayo is a bigger deal in the United States. In Mexico, the day is observed with political speeches and battle reenactments. Many of the actual celebration and battle re-enactment take place in Puebla.
- In fact, the world’s largest Cinco celebration takes place in Los Angeles. This year’s Festival de Fiesta Broadway is expected to draw 300,000 people. Cities like New York City, Denver and Houston also throw large parties in honor of the day.
Skip lettuce go with cabbage!
Cabbage is a more nutritious taco topping than lettuce. Cabbage is filled with antioxidants and is an excellent source of vitamin C, providing roughly one-third of your recommended daily intake in just one cup. A cup of iceberg lettuce, by contrast, provides only about 3 percent of your daily dose.
As an added bonus, cabbage packs a crunchy bite and comes in a variety of colors, ranging from bright purple to green, that look great on your plate.
Skip the ground beef, go with fish
Fish is a leaner protein and full of heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids and is lower in calories than ground beef. Swapping beef for fish also cuts down on dietary cholesterol.
Skip store bought, go with homemade
Yes, making guacamole in your own kitchen takes time, but store-bought varieties are often loaded with preservatives and firming agents, like sodium benzoate and calcium chloride.
Some mass-produced guacamoles also are surprisingly high in sodium. For example, Trader
Mass-produced salsas typically contain processed ingredients (such as tomato paste and dehydrated onions), but the real health downer is the sodium. Just two tablespoons of Tostitos Chunky Salsa, for instance, contains 250 milligrams of sodium, about 10 percent of your daily limit. And who stops at just two tablespoons?
Pico de gallo (also known as salsa fresca), an easy-to-make mixture of minced vegetables and chiles, offers a similar kick of flavor and spice, but with roughly one-fifth the sodium.
Skip re-fried, go with whole beans
Beans are loaded with filling fiber, but they can add sodium and fat when re-fried and packaged in can. Choose whole bean, non-refried, or low-fat canned varieties when you are looking for convenience, or buy dry beans if you have time to make them from scratch.

Lets talk about one of our favorite all natural oils: Olive Oil. We all know that olive oil is great to cook with but did you know that it has many other around the house and beauty uses! Here 4 other great ways to use olive oil!
Removing Stickers
Paper stickers can be a real pain, and they can leave a sticky residue on a variety of surfaces, especially glass. Dab a bit of olive oil onto the residue and give it a rub with a soft cloth. No more residue.
If you’ve ever tried to un-stick a zipper, you know how tough it can be. Olive oil can be applied to a cotton ball and dabbed on a zipper to help loosen the mechanism. It doesn’t take much to work, but it is effective. Just be careful not to get the oil on your clothes.
Is your hair as dry and brittle as sagebrush in the desert? Put the moisture back into it by heating 1/2 cup olive oil (don’t boil it), and then liberally applying it to your hair. Cover your hair with a plastic grocery bag, then wrap it in a towel. Let it set for 45 minutes, then shampoo and thoroughly rinse.

Enada NADH: Burn Calories and Get things done!

We all have things that we need to get done but can’t stand doing, but maybe knowing that you can count everyday household chores as a workout you might think twice. Vacuuming, dusting, cooking, washing windows, these all add up to calorie burners. So take your daily dose of NADH energy booster and get to working!
Sweeping or Mopping
Sweeping or mopping requires some physical effort, can help you burn a fair amount of calories as well. While sweeping and mopping, you’ll likely burn between 200 and 300 calories and get a pretty good upper and lower body workout at the same time. Sweeping your floors before you mop will burn even more calories.
Dusting
Dust accumulates in everybody’s home and if you’re like most; you probably don’t dust more than once a week. However, dusting a little more often won’t just be good for your health, it will also be good for your waistline. Depending on your weight, you could burn anywhere from 200 to 400 calories per hour while dusting. If you spend just one hour dusting, twice a week, your house is going to be pretty clean and your waistline, trimmer.
Mowing the lawn
Use a manual or push mower for maximum calorie burn. Expect to burn about 325 calories per hour.
Cooking
You can actually burn several hundred calories during the process of cooking a meal. Putting a frozen dinner in the microwave doesn’t count – but, even preparing a simple meal that takes an hour of preparation can help you burn approximately 200 calories.
Washing Your Windows
Window washing is a good exercise for your upper body and core muscles since you’ll likely be reaching and stretching with your arms in an upward motion to clean the tops of windows. Spending only half an hour window washing could easily burn 200 calories, depending on your weight.
Gardening
Working in your vegetable and flower garden will help you burn about 250 calories per hour. Enjoy the added bonus of fresh vegetables from your garden, which will benefit your wallet and your waistline.

Enada NADH: Allergies

Spring time is the best! It is when everything wakes up and starts blooming after the long dead winter. It is simply beautiful, but anyone who suffers from seasonal allergies knows that springtime can be both a blessing and a curse. The rising pollen counts herald unpleasant reactions such as congestion, itchy eyes, sneezing and headaches. Many seek limited relief from over the counter allergy preparations that have unwanted and unnecessary side effects, more natural remedies may alleviate symptoms without the unpleasant side effects.
While allergies can range from mild to severe, there are some supplements that can offer sufferers relief.
Butterbur
Some research shows that an extract of butterbur root (Ze 339) are just as effective at relieving nasal symptoms as antihistamines like Zyrtec and Allegra. Butterbur has the advantage of not causing sleepiness, a common side effect of antihistamines.
You should not eat raw, unprocessed butterbur root. Look for brands of specialized butterbur supplements that are labeled UPA-free; a certain percentage or milligrams of the helpful compound petasin may also be mentioned. Keep in mind that experts aren’t sure about the safety of using any butterbur supplements in the long term.
Phleum pratense
Vitamin C is a natural antihistamine, helping to reduce nasal secretions and inflammation.
Luckily, this vitamin and the flavonoids occur together in many foods, such as berries, plums, citrus fruits, peppers and brcocoli. Another option is to take extra vitamin C supplements during allergy flair-ups.
Echinacea and Goldenseal
An Echinacea and Goldenseal combination may help keep allergies in check. Echinacea is anti-viral; Goldenseal is anti-bacterial and soothes the mucous membranes.
Both herbs help to support immune response, which often becomes compromised due long-standing allergies. An Echinacea and Goldenseal combination may also be effective for treating, as well as preventing sinusitis.

Fun Fact Friday! NADH Question and Answer

Q. How does my energy depend on NADH?
A. The billions of cells that form tissue and organs and ultimately the human body have an
important assignment: to produce energy. If our cells slow down or decline in their energy
production, the most visible result is that we are tired and can increasingly experience greater
overall fatigue. NADH is part of every living cell. Inside each cell a process known as the Krebs cycle combines NADH with Hydrogen to form ATP, your body’s own energy.
Q. How does the body produce energy?
A. Bringing hydrogen and oxygen together is one of the most efficient ways to produce energy. A rocket launched into outer space is an example of energy production. All cells in our bodies use the same principle of energy production, but they do so in a sophisticated way to conserve the energy produced. NADH is the biological form of hydrogen that reacts with the oxygen we breathe in to form energy and water. The energy‐ producing process in cells is achieved by a cascade of reactions, which lead to the formation of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the energy‐containing compound in cells. One molecule of NADH will form three times the amount of ATP. Therefore, NADH is an extremely efficient and effective energy producer.
Q. How does the body store energy?
A. Living cells have the capability to store energy in the form of chemical compounds. When these compounds are metabolized, energy is released and used for all cellular processes. Only a few biological substances display all the features of energy‐rich compounds. The most important of these are adenosine triphosphate (ATP), creatine phosphate (CP), nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide hydride (NADH), and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate hydride (NADPH).
Q. How does NADH help my body?
A. NADH has energy stored in its chemical structure. When it is absorbed and taken up by the body cells, NADH produces energy. NADH can be compared to a turbine in an electric power plant. Water at a higher level has more energy than water at a lower level. If you insert a turbine (wheel) in this waterfall, you can produce electrical energy. Hence, the more NADH a cell has available, the more energy can be produced. The amount of NADH a cell contains depends on the amount of energy the cell requires. Heart muscle cells have the highest NADH content because the heart is the organ that needs the most energy in the body. Cells in the brain and muscles contain 60 percent of the NADH content of those in the heart
Q. Does NADH enhance the immune system?
A. Yes, it does. NADH is directly involved in the cellular immune defense system. Special white
blood cells, called macrophages, are responsible for direct elimination of foreign bodies such as bacteria, viruses, and molds. They literally capture these foreign bodies and then degrade and eliminate them. During this process, a markedly increased metabolic activity including oxygen consumption takes place. Most of the oxygen is converted to superoxide and hydrogen peroxide, which are able to destroy viruses or bacteria. This phenomenon is known as “metabolic burst” and appears to be the first and most critical step leading to the destruction of the foreign invader. Large amounts of NADH are required for this process. Hence, the more NADH your body has available, the more protection your immune system can provide.

Enada Health Tip: Our thoughts determine our destiny.

Research shows that what/how we think is what affects our feelings and mood. Situations do not determine mood, but how a person thinks about the event or situation does. Two people can face the same circumstances have very different reactions.
1. Be aware of your thoughts
If you can learn to be actively aware of where your mind wanders off to, and can learn to gain control of it in the first 30 seconds, you can reject the thought before turns into a full on negative session. It takes time but it is possible to develop the art of discerning a thought quickly. Learn to reject and refuse a negative thought before it occupies space in your mind.
2. Make a decision.
Research has found that no matter what happens to you in life, you tend to return to a fixed range of happiness. Researchers show that 50 percent of our mind-set comes from genetics, 10 percent is determined by our circumstances (like our job, marital status, wealth), 40 percent is determined by our habitual thoughts, feelings, words and actions.
Why is it that some people can go through the hardest of times, (death of a loved one, loss of a job, house burns down, personal rejection, etc.) and yet they still have a positive attitude and outlook on life? While others get a hangnail and the whole world must stop and send condolences.
The answer is to make the decision to choose happiness, and that choice starts with a thought.
Here are some examples for flipping the script. The trick is not focusing on what you don’t like, and switching it to positive things. Think about what you do like, or the things in life that you can control.

- Improves Physical Endurance in Athletes
Performance may be taken as needed to help naturally boost performance for 3-5 hours when taken at least one hour before activities such as: traveling, time zone changes, studying, workouts, and hectic schedules.
NADH is biological “Rocket Fuel”. It is the biological form of hydrogen which reacts with the oxygen present in our cells to produce energy, enhance mood and emotional balance, and offset fatigue.
Moms
NADH is also a mom’s favorite because of it’s anti-aging properties! Aging is loss of energy. When cellular energy declines below a certain threshold, cells in our bodies begin to slowly deteriorate and tissue begins to degenerate. Research reveals that a lack of cellular energy may accelerate the aging process. Conversely, if the cell is producing adequate energy, it can continue to perform all of its processes more efficiently and properly function.
Jet Lag
As you pack your carry-on for your next trip, stock up on Performance!
Students
Are you a student battling to concentrate and losing focus? Do you have an essay due or a midterm to take and can’t find the energy to study? Performance serves to support brain function, improve concentration, and strengthen memory while boosting energy levels.
The major prerequisite for memory is cognition. The neurotransmitters responsible for cognition and thought process are adrenaline, nor adrenaline, dopamine, and serotonin. With an increase in the production of these neurotransmitters, cognitive performance will improve. Years of research have shown that dopamine and adrenaline production are naturally increased by NADH. Therefore, NADH can effectively enhance memory and brain function.

National Garlic Month
April is National Garlic Month, garlic has so many benefits, it is not just for adding flavor to your favorite dishes. Garlic is unique, with its white compound bulb encasing many small cloves in papery sheathes. Garlic has a distinctively pungent taste and smell, and may come fresh, dried; or as an extract, powder, oil, or tablet.
Antibacterial and Antiviral
Garlic is most well-known for its antibacterial and antiviral properties. They help control bacterial, viral, fungal, yeast and worm infections. Fresh garlic is thought to play a role in preventing food poisoning by killing bacteria like E. coli, Salmonella enteritidis, etc.
Immune Booster
Garlic is rich in manganese, vitamin B1, B6 and C; as well as phosphorus, selenium, calcium, potassium, iron and copper. Studies have been conducted showing that garlic helps improve stress and calm, which also aids in keeping your immune system strong.
Combat allergies
Garlic is known to have anti-inflammatory property. It can help the body fight against allergies. The anti-arthritic property of garlic is due to diallyl sulphide and thiacremonone. Garlic has been show to improve allergic airway inflammation (allergic rhinitis). Raw garlic juice may be used to immediately stop the itching due to rashes and bug bites.
Reduce weight
Garlic may help to regulate the formation of fat cells in our body. Pre-adipocytes are converted into fat cells (adipocytes) through inflammatory system activity. The anti-inflammatory property of 1, 2-DT (1, 2-vinyldithiin) found in garlic may help inhibit this conversion. This may help prevent weight gain.
Recipe Enhancer
Not only is garlic beneficial to health, it can add zest to a variety of foods. The best way to enjoy garlic’s health benefits is to eat it raw, or close to raw. A temperature above 140F destroys the allicin, so it is best to add it at the very end of the cooking process after the dish has been removed from the source of heat.
